Mahna Mahna. That is all.
NEW TRAILER FOR THE LAST OF US
During this year’s VGA’s on Spike, Naughty Dog unveiled a brand new story trailer for upcoming post apocalyptic action adventure game The Last of Us. Here’s the uncensored (for foul language) version that reveals a little more on the plight of Joel and Ellie trying to survive a modern plague.
Naughty Dog also revealed a new release date for The Last of Us which will exclusively hit the PlayStation 3 on May 7, 2013. They also let slip information on pre-order bonuses from retailers: Sights and Sounds Pack and the Survival Pack
Sights and Sounds Pack includes:
- the official soundtrack of the game
- a PS3 dynamic theme featuring the game’s cover art
- Two PSN avatars of Winter Joel and Winter EllieSurvival Pack (exclusive to GameStop) includes:
- Bonus experience for multiplayer
- a bonus melee attack booster for multiplayer
- Extra in-game cash to start with
- Special customizable character items for multiplayer
- Two bonus skins (unlocked after completion of single player campaign) for Joel and EllieMULTIPLAYER?!?!?! Let that sink in for a second. That’s right, Naughty Dog has apparently been working on a multiplayer section for The Last of Us which would explain the delay. No further details on modes or anything yet but hopefully we’ll see some more gameplay soon.
LCD display embedded in contact lens.
A Belgian research organisation is claiming a breakthrough in augmented reality contact lenses, by developing an LCD based display able to be formed into a spherical shape and display patterns on a users line of sight.
“Normally, flexible displays using liquid crystal cells are not designed to be formed into a new shape, especially not a spherical one. Thus, the main challenge was to create a very thin, spherically curved substrate with active layers that could withstand the extreme molding processes,” said Jelle De Smet, project leader at CMST.
While the current model can only display basic patterns, the team anticipates future developments will allow it to act as a head-up display, showing images or data over top of the user’s real world view.
In the near term the lens could be developed to act as adaptable sunglasses, letting in more or less light as required.
For patients with a damaged iris, the technology could be adapted to be used as a replacement or augmentation of the iris, controlling light transmission onto the retina.
Earlier this year Innovega Inc announced plans to release augmented reality contact lens displays in two to three years time, and are working with DARPA for a military version of their device.
